Antarctica

In December 2007 we traveled as artists in residences on Quark Expeditions's Ship Orlova to the Antarctic Pennisula. The weather was spectacularly moderate and we were treated to newly hatched penguin chicks and frequent whale sightings. The walls of ice, endless mountains and glaciers awed us, even as we struggled with the challenge of painting aboard the ship. Even with near continuous daylight we felt like there was not enough time to see everything- it was like visiting another planet.
